Orange and Vodafone to start selling the Iphone

Finally we hear the news this week that not only one, but two mobile networks will be selling the iphone, spoiling O2's exclusivity rain here in the UK.

Personally I'm glad, some healthy competition can only be a good thing to us the adoring public. I'm not saying that I'm desperate to leave O2 but the lack of a reasonable upgrade options when the 3GS released did leave me feeling like an under valued customer to be exploited simply because I am an Apple fan. I mean I ask you, Apple comes to you and says 'we have re-invented the mobile phone, this is going to revolutionize mobile phones, and each year there will be an upgraded model to further push the brand' would your answer be as a mobile phone network.. 'ok we'll create a complete separate tariff for iphone users. Then we will only offer 18 month contracts as a minimum term so people wanting to upgrade yearly will have to pay silly money to get them, oh and now iphone can do tethering we will charge extra for that even though we don't charge extra for tethering in other handsets'? Ok rant over, for now.

So as I was saying, reports say that the two new sellers will have iphone available early 210. It should be interesting to see how their pricing structure compares to O2's current plan. I bet Apple are just rubbing their hand together, surely this can't only mean an increase in sale for them, I know a few people who haven't bought an Iphone simply because it isn't on their particular network.

So what do you think? Good thing or bad thing? If you are an Iphone user who will be changing networks? If so why? Please comment, i'd love to hear your thoughts

The Human Centipede

WFT! Thats fu*cked up! Who comes up with this stuff???

In The Human Centipede, Dr. Heiter (Dieter Laser) is a leering, sepulchral surgeon from Germany whose specialty is separating Siamese twins. Dr. Heiter decides to evolve his craft by sewing together living beings together at the “mucous-cutaneous zone” (guess) in order to create Siamese triplets with a single digestive system. After his experiment in creating a three-segment rottweiler (”a beautiful three-hound construction”) fails, Dr. Heiter tries again, shifting his attention to humans. First, a trucker is stolen away while relieving himself on the side of the road, Next, two clueless party girls who come knocking on Dr. Heiter’s door after getting lost in the German forest get pulled into the experiment. After erasing the trucker from the picture, the doctor finds another victim: a crazed Japanese man wandering around Germany. The doctor concludes the initial phase of his experiment by splicing together the two girls and the Japanese man. At this stage, the film really goes berserk as Dr. Heiter attempts to impose his personal brand of order and discipline on an increasingly out-of-control situation. [viaTwitch]

Tron Legacy Trailer

This is the 1st footage i've seen of the new Tron movie, from disney, but I'm already very excited. This looks fantastic! Any fan of the original is gonna go see this. Having Jeff Bridges return is awesome and interestingly he seems to be a more darker character!

One small criticism I have from what I've seen in the trailer is with the light bikes. Fan's of the original will remember they were both cool and scary for two reasons, they were extremely fast and turned at 90 degree angles! The new bikes don't seem to do this, weather a good or bad thing remains to be seen... I'll reserve judgement.

The concept art which was unveiled at Comic-Con this year in San Diego looks wicked click here to check it out for yourselves. If the finished film resembles the art, which I see know reason why it wouldn't judging from the trailer, this film will be a must see for all Tron fan's.

So lets hear you thoughts, comment bellow. Do you think this look like a big pile of poo or and awesome trip down nostalgia lane?

Spotify coming to the Iphone???

According to the BBC News the guys behind Spotify have submitted an Iphone app of their service to apple.

For those of you not in the know Spotify is a subscription service which give unlimited access to a massive library of music via the good old internet. No need to fill you hard drive with gigs and gigs of music you only listen to one or twice.

I've been waiting for this app for a while now but Apple have been creating a reputation for themselves for their, lets say, random/unclear authorization process. Many developers have their apps knocked back for, at best, obscure reasons and thats if they give a reason at all! So considering this free app will undoubtedly have an effect on Itunes and more specifitly the Itunes store it remains to be seen weather the app will get the go ahead.

Fingers cross

Coming to Xbox 360... E3 Announcements round up (pt1)

Now, I know I’m a little late out of the gate here but as I’m sure most of you are aware E3 happened recently and Microsoft have announced some amazing feature coming to the Xbox 360 and Xbox live. Here’s my run down of what’s in the pipeline.

1st off Xbox announced their answer to the ever evolving world of social networking. They are teamed up with two of the big hitters in this space, Twitter and Facebook, to bring these services right into your Xbox 360 gaming experience through Xbox live.

Facebook– This addition to Xbox live will mean you will always be connected to you friends any time, any where, any couch. But this service wont only be limited to updating your status or sharing pictures. Through Facebook’s service ‘facebook connect‘ you will also be given the ability to share your in game glory monents by posting updates and screen shots directly to your account.I can’t wait to start posting pic’s of my plasma grenades going off in my buddies face!

Twitter– The guys from Twitter can add yet another Twitter client to their, already massive, list of 3rd part apps to leverage their service. Right from your 360 you’ll be able to post status’s, read all the updates from the people you are already following and reply to any direct messages you may have, meaning you’ll always have your finger on the pulse without even having to leave your arm chair.

Last.Fm –In an unexpected, but welcome, announcement the Last.Fm service will be coming to Xbox Live’s Gold members. Many of you Iphone users will be familiar with this service but this will be the 1st time its been used in such a way that it could be an integral part of your day to day entertainment. This service provides its users the ability to create personalised radio stations based on your musical taste and then music is streamed to the user, thus meaning you will have unlimited access to more music than you could ever actually listen too…sweet. All you illegal downloaders who have a guilty conscience can sleep easy knowing you have a LEGAL alternative (*you know who you are).Did I mention the best bit? this service is all free! *don’t forget you need to be a gold member of xbox live.

Movies –All you movie fans out there haven’t been left out in the cold either. Instant on movies will be available, no need for any discs or lengthy downloads, movies will simply be streamed straight to your console. All this viewing goodness will all be available in high definition, 1080p and 5.1 surround sound no less! In addition live party for movies was announced giving the ability to watch your favorite films with your xbox live friends in a party.

Personally I can’t wait to see these services come to my 360, I’m an avid user of all things in the social networking space and I find it fascinating all the ways creative ways designers bring all these different service together to make one big happy family… awe (blurr, pass the sick bag). Post your comments bellow, let me know what you think about these service, too much? clouding what the 360 is all about? great? one more excuse to pick an xbox over other consoles? Stay tuned for next part of my e3 run down coming soon…

P.s. Once these services are launched i’ll try to do a full run down of exactly what you can and can’t do with them.
